June 2014: Spring Valley nurse prepares for her next trip to Haiti | Rockland Times Newspaper

Nurse Practitioner, Beatrice Marseille, of Spring Valley, NY is preparing her team and supplies for the next medical mission to rural Haiti where she expects to provide care for over 500 islanders. Founder of a non-profit organization called “One Vision for Haiti,” Ms. Marseille delivers basic health care to residents of rural Haiti, where there is often no access to care. “After the earthquake, bringing care to a Haitian hometown”

This June, Beatrice Marseille, a Nurse Practitioner in Mt. Sinai’s oncology unit, will lead a medical mission to her hometown of Meyer, nestled in the mountains, two hours from the Haitian capital of Port-Au-Prince.

Marseille has led missions to Meyer every year since the 2010 earthquake. 35,000 people from all over travel to Meyer for access to its lone clinic, the only healthcare available. Many of the people lack electricity. Read all about it here.

Beatrice Marseille ANP- Founder of “Vision of Haiti “

Beatrice Marseille, born in Meyer, Haiti, has been a NP since 2005. She initially worked in Surgery and has been a NP in Rehabilitation Medicine since 2007.

In 2009, she founded the organization named “Vision of Haiti” . Twice a year, this organization provides primary care to rural areas of Haiti. In April 2011, they vac-cinated 500 people with the tetanus vaccine that was received from BIO MASS University and provided primary care to over 350 people. Beatrice encouraged a physician (a Pediatrician in Florida) and 2 nurses to join her in this medical mission.

In December 2011, she organized a 2 day medical mission for 395 children, providing not only medical care but also toothbrushes, toothpaste, vitamins, soap, pencils notebooks and bags.
